Conservation and Restoration department develops through its practice and theoretic reflexion, methods and principles conducting to good Conservation and Restoration practices of the patrimony on Azulejo (Tile), as an museologic object or as a patrimony integrated in architecture, taking care yet of problems related to Ceramics.
The Department elaborates diagnostics, proposes treatments and executes conservation and restoration interventions on tiles and tile ensembles integrated in the architecture of public entities as well as of private ones. Of this action results the elaboration of technique reports and charge books for the interventions, which can be followed and supervised by the Department.
It gives support to Formation by means of academic and professional trainee programs of specialisation and programs of ongoing formation for Conservation and Restoration professionals.

The Conservation and Restoration department has workshops permitting dry and moist treatments, a Physics and Chemistry laboratory, painting and tile manufacture rooms and a documental archive of all the treatments executed and coordinated by the department.
